  • There are custom themes out there that change the interface.

    Right click -> identify-> Title name, has yet to fail me.

    Its been a long time since i used plex so I can’t say how much “easier” its over there but compared to the days before streaming this little upfront work takes less time then going to a physical store to rent.

    Maintenance takes no work and it cant be enshitificated (someone will just port it)

  • If you want to put in some work i can highly recommend self hosting a nextcloud/owncloud, maybe together with some family members.

    Something more obscure you can do is create a shareable public link with or without password to share large files with whoever you want.

    On the downside, whenever i see a professional use we transfer or the like i cringe massively.

  • I sometimes contemplate if i rather lose an ear or an eye.

    On the surface an eye seems so much more important but vision with one eye is still mostly the same vision with one corner cut out where hearing from one ear is instantly very disorienting.

    Also i believe different notes hit my brain differently depending on the ear, hence why stereo is the norm.

  • I am not sure what you mean with pov that no one else’s understand because many of my European friends speak english on top of native language.

    What i can attest is that each language has its own expressions, saying and emergent philosophy that is not always translatable in other languages.

    The language you speak/think directly influences what and how you think. Knowing multiple is therefore a very enriching experience.

  • Feel “normal”? Yes, the drug that works. (High dose of cbd for me, a little alcohol can also work in a social setting)

    Actual Neurotypical experience? Biologically impossible.

    Your neurodivergent self is your real “normal”.

    But when you no longer experience symptoms that cause the everyday problems you struggle with and feel like you just function optimal.. that’s an amazing feeling allright. But it can almost feel like a high in contrast. Its definitely not what “neurotypicals feel like all the time”

    They have their own days that they struggle or function more optimal.

    The main difference is that there struggles are “normal” ones that “everyone has” and “understands” (y)ours are different and can cause social strife, exclusion.

    Its possible that while your symptoms are gone you fit in better amongst neurotypicals and this sense of belonging is a big part of the neurotypical experience, but your brain is still a neurodivergent one at its core, with all the good and bad that goes on in it.

    Instructions said it was designed for arch.

    There are many more other reasons i stayed. Its great to actually feel in charge of my system.

    Debian/ubuntu has its uses in server reliability but its missing snap for daily use.

    Fedora is to close to corporate for my personal interest.

  • There is some nuance to what exactly is banned.

    I self host a vpn at my home that i use to connect to my home network on the go. This is a super common use-case and also cant be used to circumvent regional blocks.

    Work also uses a vpn to securely tunnel company hardware to our servers.

    A blanket ban on vpn software and technology would be ridiculously dumb. Almost as bad as blanket ban on encryption.

    If they make exceptions and only ban vpn with intention to hide and circumvent the law, then you only need some legal excuse if someone comes asking and its more a morality guideline then a criminal law.

    If they blanket ban “vpn technology” i would simply suggest ignoring it. Laws that stupid are too incompetent to take seriously. I recon its completely unenforceable.

    Either way you’re unlikely to be investigated unless the government already has a reason to investigate you. In which case you’re probably fucked no matter how secure your internet.
