Hello. I've been silenced, removed and blocked enough on lemmy dot ml for being a filthy leftist but not a falling in line defending totalitarian states full blown authoritarian communist. Sooo I'm blocking everything from lemmy dot ml so I don't have to be bothered with any more of that nonsense. If you are on lemmy dot ml and commenting on me I will not see it. Ta ta.

  • I think it sounds like something different. Lucid dreaming is being in a state between awake and asleep to stay in first person control with the brain in unrestrained creative mode, while this is about training the brain to make up desired interpretations after waking up from full sleep mode.

  • Oh this is interesting. I've recently come to terms with the amazing plasticity of the brain. So if the brain assembles a narrative only after the flood of random stimuli, it should be possible to train it to use certain baselines for what narratives to assemble.

Any neurologists and psychiatrists and other brain specialists in the house?

  • For nerdy nerds like us a torrent client isn't anything complicated. Regulating up and downstream bandwidth to personal preference isn't complicated. Managing torrents to seed and not isn't complicated. For your Average Joe though...

  • I haven't watched Mad Max one in twenty years, but I'm pretty sure the backdrop is rising international political tensions and the ending suggests a global nuclear war.

  • Not daydreams but I have scenarios that I explore in different narratives I make up to ease myself into sleep. Currently it's a sci-fi one. They are not intended to be stories for anybody else and I have no ambition to write anything down.

  • And the traditional beverage of choice is the carbonated soft drink Julmust, despite a certain international soda company upping their efforts every year to be associated with Christmas. (Their Christmas ads are not very popular in Sweden because hey it's once a year something is outselling your product, you greedy ghoul. Let us have our own traditions.)

  • Sweden. Some people are having decorations up already but normal is from advent. Christmas is celebrated the eve of the 24th with dinner and Santa visiting in person. Dinner is commonly a Christmas ham and other regional or family traditional dishes. 25th is a slow day when kids are playing with their new toys and the adults are relaxing after the build up until Christmas eve. The evening of the 25th is quite common for young adults that are visiting their family home in a town where they no longer live to go out to the local bars and get shitfaced with people they used to know, possibly air their teenage grudges or crushes and get in a fight or laid depending on the scenario and outcome.

  • Same here with ml and I got banned from subs and by mods because I am just a filthy leftist and not a full on totalitarian cultist. Signed up on some different other ones. Learned some time ago that it is possible to filter everything and everyone from ml and my Fediverse experience has improved bigly.

  • Back in the nineties I was told off that Windows users are fanatical to their OS by a girl with one single sticker on her bicycle and it was the Apple logo.

We worked in the same music studio with exclusively Apple computers and my money job was administration of an office with mixed Windows and Linux and BSD environment.

I never had problems with either OS but I did have problems with Apple hardware being 2-3x the price for performance back in the days when performance mattered.

I dunno if she mistook some single mouse button banter as something personal or what. Needless to say she didn't take it well when I laughed it off and told her I don't decorate anything with neither penguins or the Windows logo.

  • The rest of the world has done various responses to the American trade war. Most everybody else has found other partners to do business with and those that haven't are soon about to. America is not hurting other countries economically as much as they are hurting themselves. The entire ICE thing is terrible and it is too bad the government agencies have given in and that the military seems to be rolling with it too. But it is still domestic affairs as long there isn't any proof of concentration camps or massacres or the like. We have lots of empathy for the people in America suffering from all of this.

    But then again...

You guys have free elections and this is your democratically elected leader doing what he promised to do. You guys had him elected after he staged a failed coup once already. What do you expect the rest of the world to do about it? To save you guys from yourselves?

Sorry, dude. We're busy dealing with our own national problems, trying to block Chat Control in EU, support Ukraine and deal with the entire Russia scenario, try to stop the genocide in Gaza, and a bazillion other more pressing things than dealing with problems America had caused for itself.

  • I was just thinking that instead of being annoyed of corporate AI customer service we should just cost them lots of money by random chitchat with their LLM chatbots.

  • I know several owners of cats that have tags. I know at least one with a proper GPS transmitter on the cat collar.

  • lemmy.ml is good to avoid not only for political reasons but people that are nuts enough to defend genocide for countries they have on their team are not to be trusted with much anything else either. Users are cultists that politicise, brigade and harass and community mods on lemmy.ml adopt old school Soviet style silencing of thoughts and discussion other than the state approved.

Before you are making assumptions, I'm a leftie and have been for longer than most of the users there have been alive, but I'm not an authoritarian communist so apparently my thoughts are dangerous for the believers to hear.

Wherever you have your account you can block other instances and everything from selected domain names. My Fediverse experience is so much better after consequently filtering out everything lemmy.ml on every account and instance I'm on and I'd recommend it for everybody.

  • Definitely not but I'm not American.

Please do not mutilate your child because of tradition.

  • People taught to trust authority without questioning it are very convenient for totalitarian rulers.
