Fuck Nationalists, White Supremacists, Nazis, Fascists, Zionists, The Patriarchy, Maga, Racists, Transphobes, Terfs, Homophobes, Police, ICE.

  • Most of the Anubis encounters I have are to redlib instances that are shuffled around, go down all the time, and generally are more ephemeral than other sites. Because I use another extension called Libredirect to shuffle which redlib instance I visit when clicking on a reddit link, I don't bother whitelisting them permanently.

I already have solved this on my desktop by self hosting my own redlib instance via localhost and using libredirect to just point there, but on my phone I still do the whole nojs temp unblock random redlib instance. Eventually I plan on using wireguard to host a private redlib instance on a vps so I can just not deal with this.

This is a weird case I know, but its honestly not that bad.

  • Yeah I actually use the noscript extension and i refuse to just whitelist certain sites unless I'm very certain I trust them.

I run into Anubis checks all the time and while I appreciate the software, having to consistently temporarily whitelist these sites does get cumbersome at times. I hope they make this noJS implementation the default soon.

  • emerge -avuDN @world

Get out of here Gentoo Mage! Nobody likes you!

  • Unlike Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, etc., which have alternative frontends, LinkedIn doesn't have such an alternative frontend. Sorry OP.

  • Look, I'm just gonna say it. Fuck Gavin Newsom! If Gavin wants my vote he'll have to disavow his meeting of the minds with Charlie Kirk as him meeting with a fucking fascist. He'd have to abandon his support of silicon valley oligarchs outright and vow to tax them into nonexistence. He'd have to make homelessness legal in California and set up housing for the unhoused with clear social safety nets designed to uplift them financially and socially. And he'd have to defend Trans people's rights to play in sports as the gender they identify as.

But we all know Gavin is just more of the same Democratic bullshit with slightly more combative language. I suspect he'd make as bad a President as Kamala would have been, or worse. If there is a presidential election next cycle, it'll likely come down to Newsom vs a Charlie Kirk wannabe or some Nick Fuentes Groyper.

Don't let that happen, don't compromise your ideals. Call out everything wrong with every Democratic candidate, so vehemently it'll make any centrist's ears bleed. If a candidate accepted campaign contributions from anyone other than small donors, fuck em. You aren't their constituency if they do.

Lean so far left the whole country tips over.

  • Luthen Rael from Star Wars Andor. We need people like him right now.

  • Thank you.

Specifically it looks like its The Butterfly Effect with Jon Ronson, an audio book series.

It's available on audible it looks like.

    Again, thanks!

  • Yeah, I can't trust you. Your community you founded is some strange travel blog that gives off marketing vibes. If you try to sell me something, I immediately am suspicious. Sorry, blocking you now.

  • Look, I wish I had your viewpoint, but truth be told I have no plan of leaving my homeland. Imperialist fascsism comes for us all eventually, and that's kind of my point. You, me, all of us, actually have got nowhere to run. You either fight or succumb. But my take on life is that I live solely to spite my enemies, not because I believe I can beat them, but because I refuse to make victory easy for them. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps we can win this fight and solve the climate crisis, but I'll not get my hopes up. Only spite remains that stirs me from my bed in the morning now.

In this way, my enemies control me, they define me. I am nothing without them now. Such is the horror of imperialist fascism, they do not relent, they are never satiated, and they do not ignore any corner of the world. And so it consumes me.

Eventually the world's problems end up at your doorstep, whether you had a hand in creating them or not. I just refuse to look away.

  • Sure. I'm not trying to say the US and Russia are equivalent in the volume nor nature of how they implement imperialist and domestic violence (though there are increasingly more similarities as of late). But I perceive the US as a crazed madman with as many arms as Shiva and has amassed more weapons than anyone else, with a gun pointed at the head of everyone in every direction, including at it's own head. I also view other imperialist nations as having a similar psychosis going on, just with a few less arms and very different origin stories as to how they got there.

I'm just saying telling everybody it's solely up to the nation to clean up its own mess is, while correct, way too simplistic. I admittedly don't know how we solve it though, and I'm cynical enough to believe most of us don't have an answer, and even if we did, we wouldn't have a strong enough consensus and momentum to pull it off. Hence why I believe nothing will be done.

We, the citizens in these imperialist nations are both slaves and slave masters, with guns pointed to our heads, by both nation states and corporations, they don't just control whether we live or die, they hold our hearts in their hands, ready to squeeze out our humanity and empathy at their discretion. We in turn wield the whip at our own slaves in those countries in which we colonize. We all have this done to us and do it unto others until we look in the mirror and mistake the monsters we have become as the best humanity has to offer.

    EDIT: spelling, grammar, wording.

  • And when your neighbor starts defecating in your house and also all your other neighbors houses and also onto their own wife and children in plain view of everyone else, daring them to do something all while their armies and aircraft carriers point in every direction including at themselves?

I think the answer is still you do nothing. But man would I like to be wrong on this one.

  • Super interesting. If you can find that episode, I'd love to give it a listen.

  • No, but a lot of people I've met and encountered have a similar fear. Usually there's no way of assuaging said fears as its very very innate and understandable.

I guess I'm not scared cuz I spent a lot of my early adulthood smoking a lot of weed, drinking a lot of alcohol, doing some psychedelics, and participating in various other behaviors in an attempt to forget my somewhat traumatic childhood, in which I was only partially successful at forgetting.

After going to therapy for some time, I realized that traumas cut deeper than memories, and that there wasn't much to do but move forward with all of it integrated and try and do the best I can. It's an imperfect answer, but it's the best I got.

Because of this when I think about the horror of losing my memories, I kind have made peace with that losing memories is likely simply a part of death. Sure there's the horror of still being alive when it happens, but even if you believe in an afterlife, you likely can't hold onto every memory of life and your infinite afterlife, right? Unless you become God or something I guess, but then you have every memory of everything and everyone...which is...well probably kind of boring...so you split your consciousness off into other beings and live as other entities to keep things interesting until the end of time when you, as God, die... unless God also transcends time...but I'm meandering a lot at that point.

And yeah...it goes on like that...a kaleidoscopic rubix cube of making memories and forgetting them and fearing loss and accepting impermanence... eventually you come to accept it...until existential dread hits you from time to time, but you eventually get used to that being part of the whole being alive and existing thing too.

Or at least that's how my insane mind deals with it anyway.

  • Yes

Dr. Mike is a currently practicing Family Physician that obviously makes good money on YouTube with 14M subs, and just gives pretty standard medical advice while covering interesting topics in his field and dispelling common medical myths.

The worst thing I can say about Dr. Mike is that he is very much an Old School Democrat and procapitalist/anticommunist, as evidenced by his podcast guests and his statements about his upbringing in Russia. But those are his political views. As far as I can tell his success on YouTube has to do with his looks, personality, and production quality alongside sound medical advice and interesting insights into the medical field.

I'm pretty sure at this point he has a whole team managing his channel, so he still has time to be a full time doctor. It's extremely rare for a legitimate currently practicing doctor to be able to be a youtuber full time, but it does happen.

    EDIT: wording/clarification

  • Subscribed, top 6 hours.

  • Way too many. Pretty much all Adult Animation, with a few exceptions which I'll note.

    Bojack Horseman

The best description I have for Bojack Horseman is it's a dark comedy/drama about generational trauma, depression, wrestling with one's own demons, owning up to your mistakes, redemption, and so much more, all wrapped up in a strange colorful world that's full of commentary, an absurd amount of witty puns, and so much more. One of my favorites of all time.

    Long Story Short

Long Story Short is from the same writer as Bojack Horseman, but was released very recently. I just got done watching it. I would describe it as a montage of coming of age stories around 3 siblings. The format jumps around from different years within their lives as it depicts an American Jewish Family navigating their interpersonal relationships, explore their Jewish heritage, and grow as a family. It's a well done comedy with some heavy drama thrown in. Well done in my opinion and worth the watch.

    Hazbin Hotel

Hazbin Hotel is a Musical Comedy/Drama that takes place in an exaggerated version of Hell. Taking place in the creator's own "Helliverse", Hazbin Hotel stars the daughter of Lucifer Morningstar, Charlie Morningstar, who founds a Hotel with the hope that they can redeem sinners so that they might enter into Heaven. It's a charming show with some pretty well done music, sometimes very well done animation, and an entertaining cast of characters.

    Helluva Boss

Same creator, same universe as Hazbin Hotel, Helluva Boss stars Blitz (the "o" is silent), an Imp in Hell who founds a company IMP, which provides the service of Assassination for any in Hell who have a grievance with someone still among the living. Helluva Boss is also a musical, though admittedly has far fewer musical numbers. It is also a comedy (some of the comedy is very very raunchy), and also a drama. This one you can watch for free on youtube.

    Rick and Morty

Rick and Morty is probably familiar to most at this point. Rick and Morty stars the titular Rick Sanchez and his grandson, Morty. They go on wacky sci fi adventures with some overarching drama along the way. The show is definitely a dark comedy that occasionally delves into some deep existential nihilistic moments. If you haven't watched this on yet, get on it. It's a solid win.

    Solar Opposites

Solar Opposites stars Korvo and his family of Alien Invaders from the recently destroyed planet Schlorp. They come to Earth with their "baby" Pupa, which will eventually evolve to consume the planet and provide resources to create another planet Schlorp. The show has it's dramatic moments here and there, but is generally a comedy. If you enjoyed Rick and Morty, it's likely you'll enjoy the style of humor this show has to offer. Make no mistake though, Solar Opposites is distinctively it's own show and even has some great side stories around miniaturized humans and some intergalactic policemen.

    Inside Job

Inside Job sadly only lasted two seasons. It was a comedy about Reagan Ridley, a technologist/scientist that works for The Deep State, covering up and interacting with the various classic conspiracies we've come to know through popular media (think the Lizard People, Illuminati, etc.). There was of course a bit a drama thrown in as well. Overall a great comedy.

    Steven Universe

Steven Universe was a great show that is one of the few on this list that I wouldn't classify as Adult Animation, but perhaps Young Adult appropriate. Steven is a young boy living on an Island with his Three Aunt Characters. As the story progresses, Steven comes to realize that he is an alien/human hybrid and his Aunts are magical space creatures called "Gems". Together they fight monsters that come to threaten their planet, and Steven eventually comes to empathize with even his greatest foes. The show is about growing up, gender identity, empathy, and familial love. It's a real tear jerker at times, but it also has a lot of laughs and a lot of sweet moments.

    Infinity Train

Infinity Train deserved more seasons (it got 4 though, pretty good run). Each season is it's own stand alone story, but the common theme is the characters explore worlds within each cart of a moving Train. The Train is a sort of magical entity that holds entire fantasy worlds inside each cart. The characters are usually trying to address some kind of interpersonal trauma they have experienced. While humorous at times, the show is closer to a dramatic epic and you can tell the creator had a unique vision for this fantastical world. I'd say this one is probably teen friendly, but not entirely for kids.

    Scavenger's Reign

Scavenger's Reign is a science fiction story about a group of humans who become stranded on an Alien Planet and struggle to understand it's sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrifying, sometimes bizarre, and usually dangerous ecosystem. The art style in particular is worth mentioning as it is quite beautiful and is obviously inspired in part by famed French Graphic Novel Illustrator, Mœbius. Just for the visuals alone, Scavenger's Reign is worth a watch, but the story is also very intriguing as the alien world is unlike anything you've likely seen in media.

    Pantheon

Pantheon was a great show that covered a lot of ground for having been only two seasons. It stars two main characters, Maddie and Caspian, who navigate a world where death is overcome through uploading of the consciousness into a digital world. Obviously inspired by various futurism thinkers as well as various other anime tropes, Pantheon starts off with a very basic premise and draws it out unto an unexpected by very satisfying conclusion. It explores the nature of consciousness, identity, immortality, and freedom. This one I highly recommend, the ending goes really really hard.

  • Chicken Soup from scratch imho.

First make stock. Roasted chicken bones and spine are thrown in with a pound of chicken feet (adds collagen, stock is richer tasting). Carrot tops, parsley, bay leaf, and a tablespoon of vinegar thrown in. As much water is added as needed to submerge chicken, make absolutely sure not to overfill pressure cooker/pot. Stock is made in pressure cooker (fast) or large pot (slow), then strained.

Then soup. Add whole deboned chicken (previously roasted tastes better), carrots, Yukon potatoes (I like purple ones for cyanocobalamin), garlic, onions, thyme, sage, rosemary, kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Optional to add a freshly beaten egg per serving (just pour slowly into soup to prevent clumping). Simmer for a few hours or just pressure cooked again.

Serve over quinoa with freshly chopped cilantro and green onions on top. Add more salt/pepper to taste.

  • I wouldn't worry about this too much. He'll stop bothering you if you seem uninteresting enough, so just give him minimal uninteresting answers. If he continues to bug you, that could potentially constitute workplace harrassment. If it gets to that point, warn him once. If he still persists after that, talk to your superior. Simple.
