  • My school went on a soft lockdown and pulled people in gym class from the fields because a bear came on campus and was roaming in the parking lot.

  • Thats so sad my sister at 18 went with me when we were younger, even dressed up. I went to a bar this Friday and it was packed with people in costumes and dancing, at least my generation still indulges in it. The music didn't start until 8:30 so it was well after the trick or treaters. Idk maybe kids are afraid of their neighbors, that wasn't the case in my neighborhood. Hope you have many festive years to come! My friend's mom use to put tombstones out with her children's names on them.

  • I went walking yesterday during trick or treating to a party at a bar 2 miles away. I saw a few groups of kids, I walked through a business street area and all the restaurants and bars and stores were giving out candy to kids with their parents. Every group had a parent but they were mostly 8-14. Definitely wasn't as busy as it was when I went as a kid 15 years ago, even though I lived in a small town. Also not a lot of houses were participating in giving out candy but I moved to a city so maybe that's it

  • I just did a deep dive into my settings but couldn't find a language preference. I guess I can find common German words and add that to my blocked words filter. They will join Trump and Elon on the blocked list

  • As I scroll All I just block the communities that I don't want to see, usually German communities because I don't know their language and a lottt of porn communities I don't need to see that on Lemmy when I have google/duckduckgo

  • Nah I get flashbacks of the old west and colonial New York. They mean literally less than nothing but I get glimpse of a past and it feels like déjà vu. Maybe I just have an over active imagination and read too many books

  • I'm 25 and I literally saw an increase to heat waves year after year until 80°-90° was the norm in summer for the northern United States. I live in Pittsburgh now and the weather has shifted from raining 70% of the time, we use to have the gulf stream and mild climates. Now we get droughts after droughts, where's my goddamn lake effect from the Great Lakes. We are eliminating natural habitats at ungodly rates. My dad who was born in the 60s has MAGA blinders and doesn't see the effects of climate change. We are now fighting LLMs for clean water in a perilous situation that teetering on ecological disaster in many communities with newly installed data centers. Morally bankrupt politicians rather have a dollar in their pocket and vote for the persuasions of the rich like a puppet on a string. I miss bird watching and seeing bugs splatter on the windshield as you drive across the country, now its a mostly dry and barren trip because of overuse of pesticides and lack of habitats to regrow local insect colonies. Also the world is overpopulated as fuck and nobody can get a job in an ethical manner. You literally have to lie and cheat just to get a job that pays you better than shit, you would think the homeless people were violent and in gangs but its actually the goons on the top of the pyramid that have organized cabals and hired hitmen. So if there's a better world out there it starts with eating the rich and consuming less of the planet. Probably have to destroy the meat industry and the oil industry but if you say that out load people think you don't want people to have jobs when you actually think sustainable farming techniques should be widely adopted instead. It just feels like common sense and not even socialist, but apparently I'm a commie stoner who worships the devil to Fox News, and to my parents. They literally raised me to not only to be kind to be people but actually want better support systems for homeless people. My entire childhood was spent in a good nature providing free furniture to newly housed people who had nothing and I'm just expected to think Trump is next Messiah what the actual fuck is wrong with Christianity now a days.

    Tldr: Yes we should eat the rich before the eat us

  • I think the greatest advantage of this is to probably watch a few episodes of show before committing to downloading it especially long series or quick movies. Does everyone in the world need backups of movies and TV shows? I know seeding is an important factor to passing media along but it also feels like hoarding and I'm not a hoarder. It feels like a fine line to cross
