  • Why am I not surprised. More of Microsoft trying to enforce this bullshit now that they own CoD.

  • I’ve forced myself to go to the gym. I set a small goal of 30 minutes and stuck with it. Usually doing more, but there have been times where I have just done the bare minimum of 30 minutes and then left.

It’s something. But it is a chore after a long day.

  • No other business works as hard as YouTube at pissing off both viewers and creators of their platform lol

  • It really depends on a lot of factors. The following questions are not ones I’m expecting you to answer, but questions that would affect this decision: What kind of trauma was it? How long ago was it? Is it likely the trauma could reappear on a second visit (example: if it was due to a war and the war is still ongoing, going back would not be a good idea)? What is the reason for going back, is it to overcome the fear, face it head on, etc.?

Depending on the severity of the trauma, this may be an answer best looked into with a professional, who can guide you on when and how it would be best to go back, or if going back is even something you should do. It simply may not be a good idea to do, at all. Or the way in which you originally planned to do it may not be the best idea for one reason or another that you may have overlooked but a professional could point out.

If it’s not that severe of a trauma that you feel needs a professional, I think the other person here is right, to go with someone, someone who you can trust to confide this with and tell them your plan. That you had something traumatic happen and you want their presence for moral support. But be careful not to expose them to the same sort of trauma too if the area is still dangerous enough for that to happen a second time.

  • This right here is just one of the many reasons why going all in on digital fucking sucks.

Multibillion dollar company acknowledges that your account was accessed & security settings were changed by an unauthorized party but refuses to transfer purchases from that account that is now closed to a new account you set up.

    Fucking horseshit.

I can understand data being locked away. It sucks, but too much liability to release to anyone. But products they still sell and you paid for? Fuck you mean I have to create a new account and buy that product again?!

  • It was hard for me to start too and still is, to be truthful.

But what I do is set a small goal and stick with it.

I reallllyyyyyy don’t want to go to the gym after work, but I force myself to go for just 30 minutes. When I first started, I would just ride the exercise bike at the gym for 30 minutes. That quickly turned into a competition, of sorts for me. Sure, I just hit 30 minutes, but I’m at 9.7 miles, why not stick around to hit 10 miles?! Oh I just hit 10 miles, but I’m at 34 minutes…might as well stay on for one more minute….etc.

I have a small bit of OCD (for lack of a better term) so I use that against me for my benefit in this way.

But even if you don’t have that OCD-like mentality, you can still go for 30 minutes and do something and then you might get into the zone and branch out to other exercises. Even if it’s not a gym, it can happen with other things. Go for a hike somewhere may have you thinking you should start biking and come back here for the trail that is perfect for biking. You go to the local park to walk and start seeing people doing other exercises that intrigue you. Etc.

I have moved from exercise bike to stairs now. I do 10 minutes and I am sweating and then go do some weights. I have the momentum at that point to actually lift and hit real goals, stretching beyond what I am comfortable with because now drenched in sweat and okay with pushing myself further to really extend that burn. Whereas before I would try lifting and I wouldn’t actually do much because I didn’t feel comfortable pushing myself too far. Something to do with sweating for me, I guess.

But as I said, I still have days where I don’t want to. And I will sometimes just go for 30 minutes. And that’s fine! Staying active and moving should be the goal to keeping out of being in the slumps.

Just get out there and do something and set a small goal for yourself to start.

  • Selfhosted @lemmy.world

Can I do VPN + Plex on my hosting server? Do I need it under this circumstance?

  • Of course I do! I was OBSESSED with that set lol. It was a small one too, I wasn’t trying to be too demanding but I was big into collecting the RES-Q series. But I have checked on it a few times since then.

It was about $10 USD and now it’s worth about $50 USD set # 6445 https://www.brickeconomy.com/set/6445-1/lego-res-q-emergency-evac

I used to get those little yellow catalogues and I’d sit there and stare at this set for hours on end.

  • Biting my nails. I’m not even sure how or when I quit it.

I remember when I was younger and one of my mom’s cousins told me she would buy me anything I wanted if I stopped biting my nails. I think it was around that time I did but I’m not totally sure. I do remember that I didn’t see her often but the next time I saw her, I did stop and she didn’t buy me the LEGO set I asked her for.

I see her every now and then (this is like 15-20 years later) and I’m always tempted to ask her about that old ass LEGO set she never got for me that I really wanted 😂

  • I believe sometimes they fail no matter what because of a condition on your end.

I’ve encountered this behavior when I’m connected to a VPN or on Tor or sometimes because I’m running Linux. I think they will sometimes fail no matter what under these circumstances because the website is too lazy to actually put some effort in additional steps to vetting you.

  • Yep, that’s exactly what I realized too and why they’re hellbent on it being there.

I am no longer using Windows at home except a server I’m working on moving to Linux and it’s partly because of this. I’ve given up on Windows.

  • Microsoft has been doing the most to break those. I was using PatchExplorer which has a lot of these features. Microsoft broke the ability to completely remove that awful, wasted space for “Recommended” in the Start Menu. It’s absolutely useless and an eyesore.

But it at least still worked to revert the context menu to what it should be. I hate always having to figure out what icon is for copy/paste/delete than just having the damn word and also having to go to the old context for 7zip/other third party apps.

  • That sounds like a great idea but how is the ventilation on that setup? Does it have ventilation for letting in cool air and exhausting the hot air?

  • Could be a few things:

    • one is clever cuts. Film one scene and film a scene at a different time. The time you see the actor looking at something erotic, you position the camera on them but they are looking at something that is not erotic so they don’t get aroused. But you give the illusion that the character is looking at it to the audience.
    • masturbation. If you masturbate before the scene, then you are less likely to get visibly aroused.
    • get an actor who isn’t aroused by that. If filming a scene with a man trying to seduce another man and he fails, then get a straight guy who won’t be aroused by the gay seduction.
    • too many times filming. Many scenes you see on TV and movies have been filmed multiple times. Rare is it for them to do one cut and be done, even if it was perfect and got everything the director was hoping to see. After doing that scene a few times, the natural feelings get lost on you. It’s why a lot of funny scenes that make the audience burst out laughing uncontrollably can be filmed without the cast and crew doing that to ruin the scene. You’ve done it so much that you are now so tired and bothered, you don’t feel the natural urge to laugh or be aroused. Some directors will use this to their advantage in, what some may consider to be unethical, to agitate their actors into feeling emotions for a scene or so they don’t feel emotions for a scene.
    • some actors just have the natural ability to hold back some natural emotions. It’s what makes them so good at their job.
  • I find more success in private party transactions on sites like OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace in the US. Not sure how it is in India, but most places around me don’t do trade-ins unless it’s like Apple for a smartphone or laptop and they give you such low cash that it’s nearly worthless. They offered me $50 USD for my 2017 MacBook Air that is still going strong. That won’t even cover sales tax on a new MacBook Air of the lowest variety.

But I posted this on local sites for my area and posted a price with a thing in the description that I’m open to trades. While waiting for a response, I go check out other listings, sometimes specifically searching for “MacBook trade” and I’ll find tons of non-MacBook listings that have these keywords and I can make a deal with these people. Either to trade with cash or not.

Some people will be willing to downgrade with the promise of cash on your side because they want money more than they want another item. And in the case of a camera, if someone doesn’t really want to give up their camera but needs the money, hey that might be your ticket so they can at least have a camera of the same type that is a downgrade and some money on top.

  • Did you make this or are you just promoting it? Your post history seems to suggest you just spam links but don’t actually contribute to the posts you share. Why here on self hosted? Is this self hosted by you or someone you know?

  • Probably taking advantage of you. You seem like you’re the only real person who’s been kind to her and she doesn’t respect it but desires it and only comes when she needs it.

That’s a user. Someone who doesn’t care about you and only wants you around when you benefit them.

A true friend is someone who is there with you for the good and bad times, alike. They’re not just coming around because they need help. They’re also coming around because they want to spend time with you and grow with you and they want to be there when you need help too.

This is not a friend of any sort. This is a person who uses people.

You seem to partly know this deep down since you call her a former friend. You know she’s up to no good.
